Broad Construction were awarded this project in October 2018, and adds to our extensive portfolio of projects in the education sector.
The scope of works included the following:
- The modification of the existing Arts Block (R Block) and convert into temporary GLA’s;
- The demolition and disposal of the existing library facility (L Block) (contains asbestos);
- The construction of a new Secondary Learning Centre and covered link access; and
- The refurbishment of one GLA in Block E and convert into a new Science Laboratory.
The project was largely handed over prior to the contractual date with a separable portion carved out for general learning areas. Practical Completion was achieved providing early access to the school in preparation of the following school year.
The performing arts centre was subject to considerable rock excavation and delayed the commencement of the ground slabs. Once the rock issues were overcome, the team worked tirelessly to complete the project within the revised contractual date. The new learning centre and science laboratory was completed and handed over for occupation prior to the commencement of the school year.
The project was delivered in accordance with DoE’s design guidelines and Palm Beach Currumbin SHS’ requirements. As these buildings were constructed on the operational school grounds, Broad Construction always ensured the separation of construction activities to the school users.
