Broad was successful in the tender of the redevelopment project for Tweed City Shopping Centre, located at Tweed Heads South near the border of Queensland and New South Wales.
Works commenced in early September 2015 and involved alterations and additions to the existing shopping centre to accommodate a new Entertainment Leisure Precinct (ELP) and new extension.
The design and construct development has resulted in an increased floor area of 3000 sqm for the centre, comprising internal demolition and reconfigurations. Further works included new outdoor areas (including a children’s playground), revised loading docks adjoining the ELP and revised car parking areas.
Throughout the duration of the project the existing day-to-day operation of the shopping centre continued. Drawing on our experience of working within live environments, the project team worked consciously to ensure disruption was kept to a minimum for existing retailers, the public and adjoining properties during construction.
Practical Completion was officially awarded on 28 September 2016.
