Improving the CityRail network

The Macarthur Station Upgrade and Interchange Project was a New South Wales Government initiative to improve capacity and reliability on the CityRail network.

Stage 1 of the project, upgraded the existing Macarthur Station to provide:

  • two lifts;
  • bus/rail interchange adjacent to the station;
  • modified pedestrian overpass; and
  • commuter car park.

This stage improved access, amenities and connectivity between transport modes in and around Macarthur Station, making it a safe and modern facility for its staff and commuters.

The project links bus and rail transport, taxi ranks, commuter car parking and kiss and ride facilities.

Works also included electronic timetabling, lifts, additional staff and customer facilities as well as easy access for people with disabilities consistent with the Commonwealth legislation.
