Following submission of the bid documentation to undertake the design and construct project, our core project team delivered a tender interview presentation to ISPT, including animation of design issues and, more importantly, solutions.
ISPT awarded Broad the contract to refurbish the large shopping centre project in March 2015 which involved complete restoration of the dated Queen Street shopping address, resulting in a fresh, new contemporary retail centre.
Works on refurbishing the existing six level building began in April 2015 and involved major demolition throughout the building, including the majority of the ground floor; modernisation to the Queen Street facade; and all new services to the centre.
A major milestone of the project was the first stage of the development which saw major retail tenant H&M open its flagship store on 13 November 2015, in time for Christmas trading.
The 170 Queen Street retail redevelopment project received official notification of PC for SP9 – the final separable portion in February 2016.
Following the opening of UNIQLO’s newest flagship store on 22 March 2016 at 170 Queen Street, Chris McCluskey, General Manager, Development Services, ISPT said; “The opening of UNIQLO is the final piece in the transformation of the premium section of Queen Street Mall, Australia’s busiest pedestrian mall.”
The 170 Queen Street redevelopment is our third project undertaken at the mall, having already successfully delivered The Regent and 155 Queen Street redevelopment for ISPT.
This project showcases our capabilities in the areas of refurbishment; design and construct delivery; and the retail sector. Its successful delivery is directly influenced by our innovative and collaborative approach, and the integrity and perseverance of the project team.
