At Broad, safety underpins everything - it is fundamental to our business.
For over two decades, we’ve fostered a culture that lives and breathes safety and well-being. It is a culture that not only helps us to keep our people safe and well, but one that adds value and improvement to our safety and performance outcomes.
Broad promotes a behaviour-based safety approach and a consistent SHE culture that focuses on behaviours and targets everyone within the working environment.
Our SHE culture sets the expectation of how we must all conduct ourselves while working at Broad project sites and in our offices – with clear expectations on how ‘ “we will” and how ‘ “we will not” behave.
Working collaboratively with our clients and subcontractors has enabled this culture to be promoted beyond the Broad team, and has enabled the continuous improvement of our SHE performance.
Managing critical risk is one of the key strategic initiatives for Broad and an absolute priority.
Originally launched in 2010, we have embedded the Safety Essentials across all aspects of our business.
The Safety Essentials are focused on providing our projects with the rules, tools and knowledge to manage the seven areas of project activity that pose the greatest risk to our people. They are the minimum, non-negotiable requirements that all personnel must comply with on every Broad project.
The Safety Essentials are firmly embedded in our management system, comprising procedures, tools, knowledge, booklets, posters, in-field guides and toolbox talks.
